Curriculum

Massimo Paradiso (PhD) studied at the universities of Bari and York (UK), where he also held the research assistant position in experimental economics. He currently teaches microeconomics and public economics at the University of Bari. A skeptical economist and convinced book and art collector. He has worked on the economics of dynamic (and individually irrational) choices and public finance (where irrationality is public). He has been member of the “Unità di valutazione finanziaria” (Financial Evaluation Unit) of the Presidency of the Republic (President C.A. Ciampi); member of panel on Stability Pact, Treasury Department; consultant for regional administrations. He served on the on the Board of Directors of the Italian Society of Public Economics (SIEP). His current research interests are taxation (of vice, that is smoking) and the history of fiscal theory, the italian tradition of scienza delle finanze. He writes for newspapers and magazine on fiscal policy and politics.
