Lines of Research

I mainly work in the field of contemporary British fiction and Anglophone literatures, with a special interest in South Asian fiction. My publications span the domains of trauma studies, affect studies, postcolonial theory and environmental humanities. I have presented papers at conferences both at home and abroad and my publications have appeared in national and international journals, such as Anglistica AION, Commonwealth Essays and Studies, Critical South Asian Studies, Ecozon@, Enthymema, Estudios Irlandeses, From the European South, Impossibilia, Interdisciplinary Studies in Literature and Environment (ISLE), Il Tolomeo, Le Simplegadi, Postcolonial Text, Prospero, Textual Practice and Textus. I have also contributed several chapters to edited volumes published by Cambridge Scholars, Ledizioni, Liguori, Pisa University Press, Routledge, and Transcript. I am the author of Jhumpa Lahiri. Vulnerabilità e resilienza (ETS Edizioni, 2019).

I am currently working on a monograph, entitled Water Stories in the Anthropocene: Anglophone Climate-Change Fiction, revolving around climate change and extreme events related to water in contemporary Anglophone fiction. It brings together droughts, floods, deluges, wetlands and marine landscapes to reveal an expanding corpus of novels by such novelists as Amitav Ghosh, Alexis Wright, Sarah Moss, Graham Swift and Paolo Bacigalupi, among many others, that address the delicate issue of climate change and the human/nonhuman imbrications.

Other activities

I am a Section Editor (for Southeast Asia and Middle Eastern areas, with an emphasis on Arab-Muslim literatures and cultures) at the journal Postcolonial Text (www.postcolonial.org). I also continue to serve as an editorial consultant of the series Diagosfera, Edizioni ETS, (https://www.edizioniets.com/view-collana.asp?col=diagosfera). I am a member of AIA, AISCLI, ANDA, and ESSE, and since May 2022 I have been a member of the steering committee of ANDA.
