Acknowledgments

  • Award for the best scientific contribution at the 18th WAVLD International Symposium of the World Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnosticians held in Sorrento (NA), on 07-10 June 2017. The award was assigned for the oral communication “Identification of a novel parvovirus related to primate bufaviruses and associated with CIRD in dogs”.
  • Prize for the scientific activity at the XVIII National Congress of the Italian Society of Diagnostics of the Veterinary Laboratory (SiDiLV) held in Perugia, Italy on 7 - 9 November 2018. The prize was awarded for publication in a peer-reviewed journal (Emerg Infect Dis., Doi: 10.3201 / eid2406.171965) of the abstract presented as oral communication at the 18th WAVLD - International Symposium of the World Association of Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostics Sorrento.
  • Prize for the scientific activity at the XIX National Congress of the Italian Society of Diagnostics of the Veterinary Laboratory (SiDiLV) held in Matera, Italy on 23 - 25 October 2019. The prize was awarded for publication in a peer-reviewed journal (Res in Vet Sci., Doi: 10.1016/j.rvsc.2019.08.019) of the abstract presented as a poster at the XVIII National Congress of the Italian Society of Diagnostics of the Veterinary Laboratory (SiDiLV) Perugia.
  • "Luria Award" for the best scientific contribution at the 5th National Congress of the Italian Society for Virology SIV-ISV Congress held online, on 5-6 July 2021. The prize was awarded for the oral communication "Hepadnavirus in cats: the discovery of a human hepatitis B-like virus”
  • Prize for scientific activity at the XX National Congress of the Italian Society of Diagnostics of the Veterinary Laboratory (SiDiLV) held online on November 25-26, 2021. The prize was awarded for publication in a peer-reviewed journal (BMC Vet Res. , doi: 10.1186/s12917-020-02325-3) of the abstract presented as poster at the XIX National Congress of the Italian Society of Diagnostics of the Veterinary Laboratory (SiDiLV) Perugia.

Author and/or co-author of 99 publications in international peer-reviewed journals (of which 11 on Veterinary microbiology, 10 on Research in veterinary science, 9 on Animals (Basel), 9 on Transboundary and emerging diseases, 6 on Virus research, 4 in Emerging infectious diseases, 2 in The veterinary journal, 1 in Lancet Microbe, 1 in Eurosurveillance). As of August 2023, his works have received a total of 1193 citations. The H index (Scopus) is 19.

  The main research areas include the study of human and animal enteric viruses and hepatotropic viruses of veterinary interest. Research topics are centered on viral agents with particular reference to zoonotic implications and virus discovery.
