Curriculum

I obtained a M.Sc. degree in ‘Engineering for the Environment and the Territory’ at the University of Catania (Italy), in 2007. That year, my academic research activity started with the attendance of the PhD course in ‘Geotechnical Engineering’ at University of Catania addressing relevant environmental issues connected with the disposal of municipal solid waste through application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA): I took the title in 2012. Since 2013, I have carried out research under several collaboration contracts and grants, mainly at the Universities of Catania, Foggia, and Turin (Italy). In the year 2013-2014, I was a research fellow at the University of Foggia for collaboration to the research activity provided by the 7FP European project ‘Scientific and Technological Advancement in Research on Agroenergy’ (STAR*Agroenergy). My commitment within the project was to perform application of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and related tools in biomass supply chains for energy generation. In 2017, I achieved the habilitation for associate professorship in “Commodity Science”, according to the Italian University system In February 2020, I received my second PhD: this time it was in ‘Civil Infrastructures for the Territory’ at the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of the Kore University of Enna (Italy), working in the field of energy efficiency and sustainability of buildings and building materials, again providing the application of LCA as one scientifically-based tool for research development. From June to December 2020, I held a research grant at the Department of Engineering of University of Messina (Italy), working in the field of LCA application to material resource recycling for production of value-added compounds. From December 2020 to March 2022, I worked the Department of Economics of University of Foggia (Italy) as an Assistant Professor doing research in the ‘Commodity Science’ research content area.
