The teaching module belongs to the area of Clinical Sciences of companion animals:
- Infectious diseases of dogs: parvovirus; neonatal infections; distemper; infectious - hepatitis, canine infectious respiratory disease; pseudorabies; coronavirosis; - leptospirosis; ehrlichiosis/anaplasmosis; borreliosis.
- Infectious diseases of cats: feline panleukopenia; feline upper respiratory tract - disease; feline infectious coronavirosis/peritonitis; retrovirus infections (feline - leukemia, feline immunodeficiency); hemotropic mycoplasma infections.
- Infectious diseases of horses: equine rhinopneumonitis; equine viral arteritis. - African horse sickness; equine infectious anaemia; equine adenitis. - rhodococcosis; contagious metritis.

Biosafety rules to prevent biological risk in the isolation unit (at the Isolation Unit of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital). Setting up treatment plans for the most common infectious diseases of dogs and cats (at the ODV Isolation Unit). Methodology to take biological samples, their storage and transport for the diagnosis of infectious diseases of companion animals and horses. Setting up sanitation plans and vaccination protocols for infectious diseases (kennels/farms). Laboratory diagnostics applied to infectious diseases of companion animals and horses. Criteria for interpreting serological test results.

n-depth study of the etiopathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis, and prophylaxis of the main infectious diseases of dogs and cats, with particular emphasis on systemic and highly contagious forms.

Diagnostic methodology and applied biosafety: Criteria for choosing between direct and indirect tests; proper management and preservation of biological samples; flow management and design of infectious disease wards (isolation); disinfection and sterilization protocols, including the selection of biocidal active ingredients based on the environmental resistance of pathogens; prevention of nosocomial infections.

Health management of kennels, catteries, breeding facilities, and feline colonies: Admission protocols (quarantine, diagnostic screening); management of gastroenteritis or respiratory disease outbreaks in animal communities; application of international guidelines (WSAVA / AAFP) for dog and cat vaccination; management of immunization protocols in puppies/kittens, immunosuppressed individuals, and during epidemic emergencies.

Veterinary policy, public health, and One Health: Methodologies for conducting epidemiological investigations; application of veterinary police regulations; prevention of zoonotic risk.
