Teaching programs:

-Health Management of Poultry and Rabbit Farms and Wildlife

Hygienic-sanitary management of the industrial poultry hatchery. Selection of hatching eggs and methods of disinfection on the surface of the shell and inside the hatching eggs (dipping). Hygienic-sanitary management of the broiler chicken and litter breeding. Different methods of rearing the laying hen (on litter, in aviary, in enriched cages) and relationship with hygienic-sanitary problems. Main vaccination methods in poultry farming: oculo-nasal, in drinking water, for aerosol and spray, for wing puncture, follicular, parenteral, in ovo. Main conditioned poultry diseases (colibacillosis, mycoplasmosis, deep pectoral disease, sudden death syndrome, ascites syndrome, malabsorption syndrome). Biosecurity in poultry and rabbit farming. Disinfections and "All full - all empty" system. Vaccines in rabbit farming: Rabbit Haemorrhagic Disease (RHD), myxomatosis and stabulogenic vaccines. Predisposing factors and prevention of the main conditioned diseases in rabbit breeding: respiratory, enteric, and reproductive syndromes. Correct management of the main raised species of wildlife. The main allochthonous species and the issues related to their spread on the land.

 

-Techniques of Management and Recovery of Terrestrial Fauna:

Wildlife management in natural areas and wildlife rescue centres. Wolf management and rescue of wolf and fox. Management of wild boar. Management and rescue of the hare: European hare and Italic hare. Rearing of European hare Management and rescue of tortoises. Management of orphan pups of different wild species. Recognition of debilitation and malaise conditions in wild animals. Supporting techniques and assisted feeding in specimens of wildlife in difficulty. Collection of biological samples for diagnosis in wild animals. Rehabilitation of movement and predation in recovered wild animals.

 

-Prevention of Infectious Diseases of Wildlife

Risks of infection and ways of spreading and propagating infectious diseases in wild birds in natural environments and wildlife recovery centres. Preventive measures against the main viral infections of wildlife: Newcastle Disease, avian influenza, smallpox, parvovirus infection, canine distemper, West Nile disease, European Brown Hare Syndrome (EBHS). Preventive measures against the main bacterial diseases: avian cholera, salmonellosis. Preventive measures against botulism
