Research activities

Research activities are mainly focused on some poultry infections, caused by Escherichia coli, Salmonella and Campylobacter, rabbit, Pasteurella multocida and Escherichia coli, and wildlife, Avipoxvirus.

Since several years, the research activity involves Dermanyssus gallinae and related infestations in poultry.

In pet birds, the research concerns some viral infections caused by Circovirus, Polyomavirus and Bornavirus.

The research is extended to the study of antibiotic resistance phenomena and an important line of research is underway on the antimicrobial efficacy of natural substances against bacteria responsible for diseases in birds, rabbits and potentially pathogenic for public health.

Scientific collaborations

The specialized scientific activity of Elena Circella in the sector of rabbit pathology has led to a consolidated scientific collaboration, automatically renewed every year, with the rabbit genetic centre of ANCI (Italian Rabbit Breeders Association).
