NOTE BIOGRAFICHE
Miriam Carella, Professoressa Associata di Demografia ha ottenuto il PhD in “Economia della Popolazione e dello Sviluppo” presso l’Università di Bari Aldo Moro.
È stata Responsabile dell'Unità di ricerca di Bari nell'ambito del Progetto PRIN 2022 PNRR "Foreign population and territory: integration processes, demographic imbalances, challenges and opportunities for the social and economic sustainability of thedifferent local contexts" (For.Pop.Ter) finanziato dall'Unione Europea - Next Generation EU (2023-2026) (PI: Prof. Federico Benassi).
È stata componente del Programma di ricerca Age-It: “Ageing Well in an Ageing Society” finanziato dal PNRR - Next Generation EU (2023-2026) (coordinatore nazionale: Prof. Daniele Vignoli); è stata componente del Progetto “Analysis of lowest-low fertility through life transitions: emancipation, couple formation and labour trajectory”(LifeTransFerty) finanziato da Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (2022-2026) (PI: Prof. Alberto Del Rey Poveda e Prof. Rafael Grande); è stata componente del Progetto PRIN "Engaging with Settlement Obstacles: legal Diversity and socio-economic Inclusion of migrant families” (Esodi) finanziato dal MUR (PI: Prof.ssa Ilaria Riva).
È membro eletto del Bureau de L'Association Internationale des Démographes de Langue Française (AIDELF).
È stata visiting fellow presso l'Institut de Démographie (IDUP) de l'Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne e presso l'Università di Salamnca (dal 2021 al 2026) , è stata chercheur étranger invité presso l'Institut national d’études démographiques (INED) di Parigi (dal 2009 al 2020) . Negli anni precedenti è stata research fellow presso istituti di ricerca in Grecia, Marocco e Spagna.
È componente del Collegio Docenti del Dottorato di Interesse Nazionale (DIN) in "Life Course Research" ed è componente del Collegio Docenti del Dottorato in "Scienze Politiche e Sociali per la Sicurezza e lo Sviluppo" dell’Università di Bari Aldo Moro.
Principali interessi di ricerca: migrazioni internazionali; comportamenti demografici e condizioni socio-economiche dei migranti e delle famiglie in migrazione; modelli di distribuzione territoriale degli stranieri; dinamiche demografiche e transizione della struttura per età nell’area del Mediterraneo; modelli familiari nell'Europa del Sud.
BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES
Miriam Carella is Professor (Associate) of Demography at the Department of Political Sciences, University of Bari Aldo Moro.
She obtained the Habilitation in Demography and Social Statistics, (National Scientific Qualification for associate Professorship in the Italian university system: II Fascia). She received her doctorate in “Economics of Population and Development” from University of Bari .
She was Responsible for Research Unit of Bari of the National Research Project PRIN-PNRR: "Foreign population and territory: integration processes, demographic imbalances, challenges and opportunities for the social and economic sustainability of thedifferent local contexts" (For.Pop.Ter) funded by the European Union (Next Generation EU) (2023-2026) (PI: Prof. Federico Benassi).
She is member of the Project Age-It: “Ageing Well in an Ageing Society” co-financed by the Next Generation EU in the context of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (2023-2026). She participated to the International Project titled “Analysis of lowest-low fertility through life transitions: emancipation, couple formation and labour trajectory” (LifeTransFerty) funded by Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (2022-2026).
She is Elected Member of the Steering Committee of the Association Internationale des Démographes de Langue Française (AIDELF).
She participate to the Board of National PhD Program in "Life Course Reserach" (socio-demographic curriculum) and to the Board of PhD Program in "Political and Social Sciences for the security and the Developpement".
Her research interests focus on international and internal migration, demographic behaviours and socio-economic characteristics of immigrant populations, demographic dynamics and age structural transition in the Mediterranean region, family forms and household structures in Southern Europe.
