Research

Research interests are focused mainly on: Food Chemical analysis (Proximate analysis and sensory characterization, Analytical determination of veterinary drug residues, pesticides, mycotoxins, heavy metals, additives, dyes, preservatives in food and feed); Food Microbiology (detection and identification of foodborne microorganisms); Development, implementation and management of quality and safety systems in food production and distribution (GMP, GHP, HACCP, ISO).

She participated and carried out researches on honey quality, chemical composition, nutraceutical and functional aspects and honey safety hazards assessment.

She carried out studies on animal welfare and ethology of different species (honeybees, pigs, cows, and ewes) focusing also on stressors and their effect on animal welfare and production (both quality and quantity).

She is involved in many research collaborations, even with international institutions (USDA, Agricultural Research Service U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food Safety and Intervention Technologies Research: Wyndmoor, PA; Unitat de Microbiologia, Departament de Ciències Mèdiques Bàsiques, Facultat de Medicina i Ciències de la Salut, IISPV, Universitat Rovira i Virgili, Spain) in the field of food safety and animal welfare, animal feeding and food production/processing.
