La radiodermite è l'effetto collaterale acuto principale a livello cutaneo della radioterapia, presentandosi nel 95% dei pazienti sia in Medicina umana che veterinaria. Nonostante l'incidenza elevata, non esistono terapie standardizzate o linee guida per la sua gestione. Diversi studi sono stati effettuati al fine di ricercare il protocollo terapeutico migliore, ma al momento attuale non vi sono terapie pienamente efficaci capaci di ridurre almeno i tempi di guarigione di questo effetto collaterale. In questo lavoro di tesi sono stati seguiti i processi di guarigione di 11 cani sottoposti a radioterapia e che hanno presentato tossicità acuta cutanea. I soggetti sono stati suddivisi in due gruppi, i quali hanno seguito terapie topiche cutanee differenti: il gruppo A è stato trattato con spray alla vitamina E; il gruppo B con One Vet®. L'applicazione del medicamento naturale One Vet® ha consentito una riduzione del tempo di guarigione delle lesioni cutanee indotte dalla radioterapia, con una media di 21±6 giorni contro i 37±17 giorni impiegati dal gruppo in cui è stato applicato lo spray alla vitamina E, facilità della gestione da parte dei proprietari (anche nei casi di dermatite umida) ed elevata tollerabilità da parte dei cani.

Radiodermatitis is the principal radiotherapy acute cutaneous toxicity, with a 95% incidence in patients both in human Medicine and veterinary. Therefore its presence is quite constant, there is not standard treatments nor guide lines for its management. Several studies had been carried out with the purpose of searching the best therapeutic protocol, but nowadays there are not completely effective therapies at least able to reduce healing time of this collateral effect. This study followed 11 dogs through their healing process. They underwent radiotherapy and showed acute cutaneous toxicity. Two groups, that had different coutaneous therapy, had been formed: group A treated with vitamin E spray; group B treated with One Vet®. One Vet® medicament's application allowed healing process' reduction of the radiation-induced cutaneous wounds in 21±6 days against 37±17 days needed by the group A treated with the vitamin E spray. One Vet® also showed an easier management for the owners (in moist dermatitis, too) and dogs’ high tolerance.
