Second-year, English-language L11 students are offered a two-hour language lesson and a language-laboratory session once a week. So, in conjunction with timetable commitments, you can choose to either attend lessons in Aula 14 or on Microsoft Teams on Mondays or in Aula 11 or on Microsoft Teams on Tuesdays. All language-laboratory sessions and tutorials will be conducted online. Students are asked to complete Reading Comprehension Text1 (Missing Apostrophe in Facebook Post Lands a Man in Defamation Court) to be found below in ‘Materiali’ (a.a. 2020-21) and in the ‘Materiale del corso’ folder on Microsoft Teams and to either take it along to lesson or to have it at hand for lesson on line on Monday 18th October or on Tuesday 19th October. Given that so many students were unable to join lessons on line on both Monday and Tuesday last, Text 1 will be used in lessons on Monday 25th October or on Tuesday 26th October. Students are also asked to have completed Grammar Unit 1 (Past time), Unit 2 (Present perfect) and Vocabulary Unit 1 (Travel and holidays) and Unit 2 (Work and employment) in First Certificate Language Practice (English Grammar and Vocabulary - 4th edition - with key; Michael Vince, MACMILLAN before attending lesson. Students are asked to read Advice on summary writing, to be found below in ‘Materiali’ (a.a. 2021-22) and in the ‘Materiale del corso’ folder on Microsoft Teams, and then to write a summary of Reading Comprehension Text 1(Missing Apostrophe in Facebook Post Lands a Man in Defamation Court). Students are also asked to complete the Italian-English translation from the June 2021 written exam (Professionisti e dirigenti stranieri) and to identify what aspects of language and translation may be assessed in this task. Students are asked to read the text from the Septembr 2021 written exam (How street art is helping young migrants paint a brighter future in Italy) and then highlight the key words. After doing so, the text should be summarized in just one sentence, which would serve as the opening to a more detailed summary. This should be ready for discussion either in lesson in Aula 14 on Monday 16th May or in the lesson on line on Tuesday 17th May . Students are also asked to complete the Italian-English translation from the September 2021 written exam (Addio a Gaia Servadio, una vita tra romanzi, saggi e documentari) and to identify what aspects of language and translation may be assessed in this task.
