Presentation of the Department of Education, Psychology, Communication Sciences (english version)
The Department of Education, Psychology, Communication Sciences is characterized by a distinctive disciplinary and methodological pluralism enhancing the interaction between educational sciences, psychological sciences and communication sciences.
The departmental training offer aims to develop the skills necessary for the exercise of various professions with a high social impact: from primary school teaching to psychology, from didactics to pedagogy, from communication to editorial expertise, from personal service and business coordination to research on human relations. This educational offer is organized into three first-level degree courses, three master's degree courses and a single-cycle master's degree course.
The three-year degree course in Training and Education Sciences aims to provide basic theoretical knowledge and operational skills in pedagogical and methodological-didactic sciences, complemented by knowledge and skills in philosophical, sociological and psychological disciplines.
The three-year degree course in Psychological Sciences and Techniques provides students with an adequate knowledge of basic psychological, methodological and humanistic disciplines, suitable to move on to specialized study paths; it also offers the acquisition of a good command of methodological and technical tools for psychological intervention and analysis.
The three-year degree course in Communication Sciences provides graduates with skills in the field of communication and public relations within private companies, public administration and cultural heritage; it also provides them with the skills necessary to carry out professional activities in the cultural industry (e.g. publishing, cinema, radio, television, new media) and in the consumer sector.
The degree course in Pedagogical Sciences boasts two curricula: Pedagogical Consultant and Training Path Designer. The course allows access to: specialization courses in pedagogical research, the exercise of the freelance profession in the pedagogical field, and job opportunities within public as well as private social organizations.
The Psychology course is divided into two curricula: Clinical and Community Psychology and Psychology of Work and Organizations; the former aims to provide an adequate command of the methods and techniques for clinical preventive and rehabilitative intervention at individual, family, group and community levels; the latter aims to train human resource experts able to capitalize on the psychological skills related to the selection, evaluation, training, and professional orientation processes.
The Master’s degree in Public, Social and Business Communication Sciences intends to provide specific professional skills to autonomously operate in the field of public, social and institutional communication as well as in the field of book and multimedia publishing, organization of events, graphic design, journalism and of paper-making industry, companies that adhere to the territorial manufacturing districts and to various public and private institutions, whether profit or non profit.
Graduates from the single-cycle Master’s degree in Primary Education Sciences will acquire in-depth knowledge in all disciplines being taught and the ability to propose the most appropriate method to the school level, the students’ age and culture with which they will come into contact. For this purpose it is necessary for the knowledge acquired by future teachers in the various disciplinary fields to be strictly connected with the ability to manage the class and plan the educational and didactic path. In addition, graduates will need to possess skills and knowledge enabling them to support and enhance school inclusion of Special Educational Needs (SEN) children.
As concerns post-graduate training, the Department of Education, Psychology and Communication offers a Doctoratal Programme as well as a Postgraduate School. The Doctoral Programme in Science of Human Relations consists of three curricula: history and social policies; learning dynamics and political education; cognitive, emotional, and communicative psychology processes.
The Post-graduate School in Lifecycle Psychology operates in youth and health contexts dealing with individuals in their entire life, from childhood to old age.
The Department also offers a first-level Master Course in Journalism, in partnership with the Council of the Order of Journalists (CNOG), a second-level Master in Legal Psychology and a series of Short Masters.
Furthermore, the Department is a privileged partner for teacher training as it organizes specialization courses for the didactic support activities to pupils with disabilities in kindergarten, primary, first and second grade secondary schools, in compliance with ministerial directives.
