Introduction

The blended course on the “Digital Valorization of Cultural Heritage” has been developed by the partners of the Erasmus+ project “SILVHER – Safeguarding Intangible and cultural Values and HERitage”(Project number 2018-1-IT02-KA203-048412).

The course will be activated in an experimental way for the Academic Year 2019-2020 and it will be open to only 30 international students regularly enrolled in a Bachelor or Master course at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro in Portugal, the University of Bari in Italy and the University of Pamukkale in Turkey. Each University will select the best 10 students based on the criteria listed below.

The course consists of three learning modules of 81 hours each (for a total of 243 hours) to be carried out following a blended approach from September 2019 to June 2020. Each module has been designed in order to offer 20 hours of online training, 40 hours of project-based learning and 21 final hours of face-to-face workshop in one of the countries represented in the SILVHER project.

Course programme

The course will officially start the 30th of September 2019 with a webinar for the online launch of the training activities. Preliminary information on how to use the online platform and the other communication and collaboration tools will be provided during the summer period.

MODULE 1 – MANAGEMENT OF CULTURAL PROJECTS (7/10/2019 – 13/12/2019)

MODULE 2 – DIGITAL STORYTELLING OF INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE (10/02/2019 – 03/04/2020)
Scientific coordinator: 
Prof. Veronika Joukes, Sustainable Tourism, History of Tourism and Wellness at University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro

  • Definition of Digital Storytelling
  • Digital Storytelling techniques
  • Accessibility and universal design

  • Face to face workshop in Vila Real, PORTUGAL (30 March -3 April 2020)


MODULE 3 – AUGMENTED AND VIRTUAL REALITY IN THE CULTURAL SECTOR (20/04/2020 – 26/06/2020)
Scientific coordinator: 
Prof. Naci Polat, Tourism Guidance Department, Innovative Tourism at Tourism Faculty of Pamukkale University

  • Introduction to AR and VR
  • Implementation of technologies
  • Museums, galleries and libraries
  • Theaters, performing and visual arts
  • Architecture (archeological sites, etc.)
  • Design, crafts products, fashion
  • Tourism guidance and accessibility
  • Face to face workshop in Pamukkale, TURKEY (22-26 June 2020)

Eligibility and selection criteria

The blended course on the “Digital Valorization of Cultural Heritage” is open for registration to all Bachelor and Master Degree students of UNIBA, UTAD and PAU. Selection criteria are:

  • Knowledge of English (B1). 
    The level will be self-declared by the students and verified during the face-to-face interview
  • Practical experience in the field of cultural heritage. 
    Written description of study, professional or volunteering experiences in the field.
  • Personal and academic motivation. 
    Video presentation of max. 2 minutes explaining the reasons why you want to take part in this course.

Application and selection process

The application must be sent online by using the form available at this link: https://form.jotformeu.com/fpeurope/silvher 
The deadline for applying to the course is Tuesday 30 April 2019.

FIRST STEP 
In each participating University, an internal committee composed of at least two members will analyse all the received applications and publish a preliminary graded list based on the evaluation of:

  • Practical experience in the field of cultural heritage > 10 points
  • Personal and academic motivation > 10 points

SECOND STEP
The 20 best students will be invited to a face-to-face interview for the verification of the selection criteria and the final identification of the 10 local participants. Selected students will be informed by the 31st of May 2019.

What does the project offer?

  • 243 hours international blended course on the Digital Valorization of Cultural Heritage
  • Mentoring for co-planning and development of concrete digital cultural heritage projects
  • Full expense coverage for the participation at three face-to-face workshops in Italy, Portugal and Turkey
  • Europass Diploma supplement with the detailed description of the acquired learning outcomes and the assignment of 9 ECTS credits (The recognition and validation of ECTS credits is up to each single University)

Participation conditions

In order to the receive the Europass Diploma supplement, selected students must:

  • Successfully complete all the online and face-to-face training activities
  • Ensure constant and active involvement in the implementation of local projects
  • Participate in project’s evaluation and dissemination activities

Partner Universities retain the right to retire participants from the programme and substitute them with candidates from the reserve list if one of more of these conditions are not respected.
