La formazione di esperti di elevato profilo scientifico, in grado di operare nella ricerca, tutela, valorizzazione, comunicazione e gestione del patrimonio culturale sarà garantita affiancando alla tradizionale formazione in ambito archeologico, architettonico, storico, storico-artistico, antropologico una preparazione multi-, inter- e trans-disciplinare che consenta di affrontare la complessità del patrimonio culturale materiale e immateriale e acquisire una reale capacità nell’uso di diversi sistemi di fonti, approcci, metodi e tecniche con una forte interazione tra aspetti scientifici, storici, storico-artistici, antropologici culturali e ambientali, strutturali, tecnologici, economici, sociali ed etici.
L’approccio è stratigrafico, contestuale e fortemente diacronico, aperto all’integrazione tra fonti, metodi e tecnologie d’indagine e consolidati filoni di ricerca settoriale (archeologia dei paesaggi urbani, rurali e subacquei; archeologia urbana e dell’architettura; storia dell'arte, archeologia pubblica; archeologia digitale; bioarcheologie; archeometrie; storia dell’architettura e analisi dei monumenti, progettazione architettonica e paesaggistica per il patrimonio, restauro anche strutturale; open science e open data).
Il paesaggio, sistema complesso di relazioni, espressione della dialettica tra uomo e ambiente, costituirà il laboratorio nel quale favorire la convergenza multidisciplinare di specializzazioni, metodi, strumenti diversi. Il corso cerca di rispondere a un bisogno molto sentito: offrire ‘formazione archeologica’ agli architetti e una ‘educazione alla cultura della progettazione’ agli archeologi e inoltre sollecitare in tutti gli specialisti del patrimonio culturale materiale e immateriale un approccio multidisciplinare, globale, olistico.
Il Dottorato PASAP_Med è perfettamente pertinente con diversi obiettivi indicati nelle Missioni e negli Investimenti del PNRR, che attribuisce grande spazio al patrimonio culturale, straordinaria risorsa per lo sviluppo sostenibile del Paese. Molte iniziative del dottorato sono, infatti, rese possibili grazie al felice intreccio di nuovi progetti di ricerca e di alta formazione. Il contributo straordinario offerto dal PNRR ha previsto la nascita di partenariati estesi tra Università, centri di ricerca e imprese: uno di questi è il progetto CHANGES, nel cui ambito l’Università di Bari è sede dello Spoke 1 incentrato sui paesaggi storici e sulle identità culturali (Historical Landscapes, traditions and cultural Identities).

The training of experts with a high scientific profile, capable of working in research, protection, enhancement, communication and management of cultural heritage will be ensured by combining traditional training in archaeology, architecture, history, art history, anthropology with a multi-, inter- and trans-disciplinary that will enable them to deal with the complexity of tangible and intangible cultural heritage and acquire a real ability in the use of different systems of sources, approaches, methods and techniques with a strong interaction between scientific, historical, artistic, cultural, anthropological, structural, technological, economic, social and ethical aspects.
The approach is stratigraphic, contextual and strongly diachronic, open to the integration of sources, methods and technologies of investigation and established sectorial research lines (archaeology of urban, rural and underwater landscapes; urban and architectural archaeology; art history, public archaeology; digital archaeology; bioarchaeologies; archaeometries; history of architecture and analysis of monuments, architectural and landscape design for heritage, restoration including structural restoration; open science and open data).
The landscape, a complex system of relationships, an expression of the dialectic between man and the environment, will be the laboratory in which to foster the multidisciplinary convergence of different specializations, methods, and tools. The course seeks to respond to a much-felt need: to offer 'archaeological training' to architects and an 'education in design culture' to archaeologists and also to urge in all specialists of tangible and intangible cultural heritage a multidisciplinary, global, holistic approach.
The PASAP_Med PhD is perfectly pertinent to several objectives indicated in the Missions and Investments of the PNRR, which gives great space to cultural heritage, an extraordinary resource for the sustainable development of the country. Many PhD initiatives are, in fact, made possible thanks to the successful intertwining of new research and higher education projects. The extraordinary contribution offered by the PNRR has provided for the emergence of extensive partnerships between universities, research centers and businesses: one of these is the CHANGES project, in the framework of which the University of Bari is home to Spoke 1 focused on historical landscapes and cultural identities (Historical Landscapes, traditions and cultural Identities).
