Laboratory for ultra-thin silicon detectors

The lab is devoted to the design and construction of silicon detectors for tracking in experiments at colliders. Recently the focus is the implementation of a new concept tracker, based on ultra-thin full wafer-size silicon sensors bent in cylindrical shape, for two upcoming detectors, the ITS3 and the SVT of ALICE and ePIC experiments. Another research line looks at possible applications of ultra light pixel sensors as a radio-guided surgery tool, allowing on-the-fly high resolution imaging, and for an innovative Compton camera, based on the concept of the 3D Pixel Chamber for oncological hadron therapy.
