Curriculum
Prof. Pietro Patimisco obtained the Master degree in Physics (cum laude) in 2009 and the PhD Degree in Physics in 2013 from the University of Bari. During his PhD, the research activity has been devoted to the study of thermal mapping of quantum cascade laser sources emitting in the terahertz spectral range by Raman and photoluminescence spectroscopy. From 2013 to 2015, he has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Bari. During this period, for six months, he has also been a visiting scientist in the Laser Science Group (LSG) in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University, Houston. In 2016, he awarded a 1-year position as Post-Doctoral Research Associate at LSG. In 2017, he has been a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Bari. In 2018 he became an Assistant Professor in the Physics Department. Since 2023 he is an Associate Professor in the Physics Department. His research activity is documented by more than 140 Scopus publications and 2 filed patents. He has given more than 50 presentations at international conferences and workshops, 10 as invited speaker. From 2018 to 2022, he was a member of "Giunta del Dipartimento di Fisica" From 2023, he is the Deputy Coordinator of the PhD School in Physics at University of Bari. From 2022 to 2023, he was the Deputy Coordinator of the interuniversity PhD School in Industry 4.0. Prof. Patimisco is responsible for the University of Bari research unit in the European Project “Passepartout”. He is editor of Sensors (MPDI) and guest Editor of Photoacoustics (Elsevier). He is the head of technical committee of the joint-research laboratory Polysense between Politecnico of Bari and Thorlabs Inc. Prof. Patimisco is co-founder of “PolySenSe Innovations”, a spinoff company devoted to commercialization of innovative gas sensors and consulting for applications in environmental, petrochemical, and biomedical fields. He has been ranked among Top 2% Scientists in the world by Stanford University, USA in the 2019 year list (https://data.mendeley.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/2) and 2020 year list (https://data.mendeley.com/datasets/btchxktzyw/3).
