Current academic position: Associate Professor of Parasitology and Parasitic Diseases of animals, Department of Veterinary Medicine, University of Bari.

Professional qualifications: Degree in Biological Sciences; University of “Roma Tre” (2004). Thesis performed at University of Roma “Sapienza”; PhD in Animal Pathology and Welfare (2008) and Post-doc (2010) at the University of Bari, Department of Veterinary Medicine; National Scientific qualification for the sector SSD VET / 06- 07 / H3 to Full Professor (2021).

Academic assignments: Head of the Molecular Biology Laboratories of the Parasitology and Mycology section, Department of Veterinary Medicine; Member of the Academic Board of the Master's Degree Course LM86; Member of the Academic Board of the Master's Degree Course LM42; Member of the Academic Board of the Research Doctorate School in Animal Health and Zoonosis, University of Bari; Member of the Academic Board of the Postgraduate School of Microbiology and Virology, Medical-Surgical Area and Health Area, Medicine University from Bari.

Teaching assignments: Lecturer on food parasitology and mycology within the master's degree course of the Department of Veterinary Medicine; Lecturer in Parasitology in the field of Prophylaxis of infectious and parasitic diseases of pets in the Master's Degree course; Professor of Parasitology within the School of Specialization in the Health Area, Common Trunk: Pathological Anatomy, Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Pathology, Microbiology and Virology, School of Medicine and Surgery, University of Bari; Lecturer at the PhD School in "Animal Health and Zoonoses"; Lecturer for degree and doctoral theses; Lecturer at specialization courses, masters, seminars and study days organized by professional associations and  Universities.

Research activity: She is the author of international articles in peer-reviewed journals with H-Index. The research activity is focused in the field of medical-veterinary parasitology above all on diagnostic methodologies and the control of the main diseases transmitted by vectors (i.e., leishmaniasis, babesiosis, thelaziosis, hepatozoonosis, onchocerciasis, dirofilariosis) and the development of molecular/ serological tests for the identification of vector arthropod parasites and the pathogens transmitted, mainly focusing on those of zoonotic interest.

She obtained a patent n. 102020000030773.

She is Academic Editor of PLOS ONE and Referee of  international journals: Medical and Veterinary Entomology, Acta Tropica, Parasite and Vectors, Parasitology Research, Ticks and Tick Borne Diseases, Veterinary Parasitology.
