Paolo Bollella

Curriculum

Paolo Bollella is an Assistant Professor at University of Bari in the Department of Chemistry. Till December 2020, he was a Research Assistant Professor at Clarkson University in the Department of Chemistry and Biomolecular Science (USA). After his PhD, he joined the Department of Analytical Chemistry at Åbo Akademi in Turku (Finland) with a Johan Gadolin PostDoc fellowship awarded from the board of Johan Gadolin Process Chemistry Center. In October 2018, he joined the group of “Bioelectronics & Bionanotechnology” led by Prof. Evgeny Katz. In March 2019, he was awarded with the Minerva Prize for the Scientific Research – Merit Mention for the achievements obtained during his doctoral thesis based on the study of Mediated/Direct Electron Transfer of Redox Protein for Biosensors and Biofuel Cells Applications. In 2020, he was recognised among the top 100000 (top 2%) most influencing scientists and engineers (statistical analysis elaborated by Stanford University). He is author of 76 papers on peer-reviewed international journals (Hirsch-index 21, Scopus), 3 book chapters, 1 student book, 2 proceedings and almost 60 oral or poster contributions to national and international conferences.

Research Interests

Electrode modifications, biosensors development, minimally invasive and wearable biosensors, enzymatic fuel cells, electron transfer of redox enzymes.
