In consideration of the extensive practical laboratory and restoration activities that characterize it, the degree course has restricted access (numerus clausus), with a total number of 5 students for each Training Profile (PF). The entrance exam, in accordance with Ministerial Decree (DM) 87/09, consists of two practical aptitude tests and one oral exam.

Candidates, after specifying their chosen training profile in the application, must undergo the following tests:

  1. Physical-Perceptive Aptitude Test: aimed at verifying the candidate's perceptive ability in relation to a series of color ranges.

  2. Graphic or Manual Aptitude Test, designed to evaluate:

    • The natural inclination to proceed with method, order, and precision;

    • The aptitude to perform a critical synthesis of the artifact (painting, relief, or three-dimensional object) through a clear and appropriately modulated line intended to restore volumetric definition, proportions, and the specific execution technique under examination;

    • The candidate's manual aptitude.

Passing tests 1 and 2 in order will allow admission to the third stage:

  1. Oral Exam, aimed at:

    • Verifying direct knowledge of artworks and the ability to relate historical-artistic data with technical data;

    • Verifying basic knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, biology, earth sciences, physics) and the English language.

Failure in any one test precludes participation in the subsequent one. Candidates who do not pass the third oral exam will not be included in the list of eligible candidates and therefore cannot be admitted to the course of study.

A dedicated commission will draw up a merit ranking based on the test results. The procedures for the verification tests will be prepared according to ministerial guidelines; the sustainable capacity is 10 students (5 for each PF).
