The Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage is designed to train graduates for the professional profile of Cultural Heritage Restorer. Consequently, the degree is directly qualifying (pursuant to Legislative Decree no. 42/2004) for the profession of "Cultural Heritage Restorer"; it grants the professional license to practice as a Restorer—the only one recognized at the Ministerial level—without the need for further examination.

The Cultural Heritage Restorer is a professional who assesses the state of conservation and implements a series of direct and indirect actions aimed at limiting the degradation of a work's constituent materials and ensuring its preservation, while safeguarding its cultural value. To this end, within a framework of coherent and coordinated conservation planning, the restorer:

• Analyzes and interprets data regarding the materials used, the execution technique, and the object's state of conservation;

• Designs and directs interventions within their area of expertise;

• Performs conservation and restoration treatments directly;

• Directs and coordinates other professionals involved in activities complementary to restoration;

• Conducts research, experimentation, and teaching activities in the field of conservation.
