University System and Educational Offer

The university system follows the guidelines of the university reform set out in Ministerial Decree (DM) 270/2004, which replaced the previous reform (509/99).

The degrees awarded are:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (L)
  • Master’s Degree (LM)
  • Specialisation Diploma (DS)
  • PhD (DR)

Study Cycles

First Cycle – Bachelor’s Degree

  • Credits: 180 CFU
  • Duration: 3 years
  • Entry qualification: Upper secondary school diploma or other recognised equivalent foreign qualification
  • Academic qualification: Graduate (Dottore)

Second Cycle – Master’s Degree

  • Credits: 120 CFU
  • Duration: 2 years
  • Entry qualification: University diploma, Bachelor’s Degree, or other recognised equivalent first-cycle foreign qualification
  • Academic qualification: Graduate (Dottore Magistrale)

Single-cycle programmes

  • Credits: 300/360 CFU
  • Duration: 5/6 years
  • Entry qualification: Upper secondary school diploma or other recognised equivalent foreign qualification
  • Academic qualification: Graduate (Dottore Magistrale)

Third Cycle – PhD Programme

  • Duration: 3–4 years
  • Entry qualification: Master’s Degree, Single-cycle Master’s Degree, or other recognised equivalent foreign qualification
  • Academic qualification: PhD (Dottore di Ricerca)

Specialisation Schools

  • Duration: defined by the programme regulations
  • Entry qualification: Master’s Degree, Single-cycle Master’s Degree, or other recognised equivalent foreign qualification
  • Academic qualification: Specialist

Professional Programmes

First-level University Master’s Programme

  • Credits: 60 CFU
  • Duration: 1 year
  • Entry qualification: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, or Single-cycle Master’s Degree
  • Does not award an academic degree

Second-level University Master’s Programme

  • Credits: 60 CFU
  • Duration: 1 year
  • Entry qualification: Master’s Degree, Single-cycle Master’s Degree, or other recognised equivalent foreign qualification
  • Does not award an academic degree
