ORIENTATION FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS

The Orientation Service of the Department of Veterinary Medicine supports prospective students in making an informed choice about their university studies, with particular attention to the transition from upper secondary school to university.

The Service works with schools and teachers responsible for student guidance, providing information about the Department’s degree programmes, admission procedures and career opportunities.

The Department organises presentations of its degree programmes, guided tours of the Campus, activities for schools and welcome initiatives for new students. It also provides guidance on degree programmes, admission procedures and career opportunities.

ACTIVITIES FOR SCHOOLS

The Department of Veterinary Medicine works with upper secondary schools to organise activities introducing students to university degree programmes and to professions related to veterinary medicine, animal science and food safety.

Schools may request or arrange the following activities with the Department:

  • presentations of the Department’s degree programmes;
  • guided tours of the Veterinary Medicine Campus;
  • meetings with academic staff, researchers and university students;
  • information about admission procedures;
  • information about course content and career opportunities;
  • School-to-Work Training programmes.

School-to-Work Training programmes (Formazione Scuola-Lavoro – FSL)

The Department offers School-to-Work Training programmes (Formazione Scuola-Lavoro – FSL) for upper secondary school students. The activities are designed and organised in collaboration with participating schools.

Formazione Scuola-Lavoro is the current Italian name for the programmes previously known as Percorsi per le competenze trasversali e per l’orientamento (PCTO).

WELCOME FOR NEW STUDENTS

At the beginning of each academic year, the Department organises welcome activities for students newly enrolled in its degree programmes.

During the Welcome Day, new students are introduced to:

  • the organisation of degree programmes and teaching activities;
  • academic staff and key contacts;
  • student services;
  • the Campus’s teaching, research and clinical facilities;
  • opportunities available throughout their studies.

The initiative is designed to help new students become part of the university community and provide them with the essential information they need to begin their studies.
