Research and Third Mission Evaluation Committee (CVR-TM)
The Research and Third Mission Evaluation Committee (CVR-TM) serves in an advisory, consultative, and preparatory capacity, supporting the Department Director and the Department Council in matters relating to research, Third Mission activities, and Quality Assurance.
Through monitoring, analysis, evaluation, and the development of recommendations, the Committee contributes to the implementation of the Department's policies on research and Third Mission/Social Impact, fostering a culture of quality in research and Third Mission activities throughout the Department.
Functions
Monitoring of Research Output
The CVR-TM carries out an annual, systematic monitoring of the research output of the Department's academic staff and researchers. Based on an analysis of publications recorded in the IRIS institutional repository, it provides the Department Council with a comprehensive overview of research performance, broken down by disciplinary area and publication type.
Monitoring of Competitive Research Funding
The Committee periodically monitors the Department's participation in regional, national, European, and international competitive funding calls. It analyses success rates, funding secured, and the main research areas addressed, and formulates recommendations aimed at strengthening the Department's competitiveness in securing research and Third Mission funding.
Self-Assessment of Research and Third Mission/Social Impact
The CVR-TM supports the Department in the self-assessment processes required under the AVA (Self-assessment, Evaluation and Accreditation) system. It prepares periodic analyses of research and Third Mission performance, identifies strengths and areas for improvement, and submits recommendations to the Department's governing bodies.
Support for Quality Assurance Processes
The Committee contributes to the Quality Assurance processes for research and Third Mission/Social Impact by providing data, analyses, and technical support for the preparation and updating of documentation required by the University and ANVUR. This includes documentation related to the Annual Departmental Research and Third Mission/Social Impact Report (SUA-RD/TM-IS).
Analysis of VQR Results
Following the publication by ANVUR of the results of the Research Quality Assessment (VQR), the CVR-TM analyses the Department's performance, with particular reference to its disciplinary areas. The Committee examines the qualitative and quantitative indicators adopted by ANVUR, compares them with the outcomes of previous VQR exercises, and reports its findings to the Department Council to support strategic planning and the continuous improvement of research activities.
Research and Third Mission Incentive Schemes
The CVR-TM submits reasoned proposals to the Department Council for the amendment or revision of the regulations governing research and Third Mission/Social Impact incentive schemes. On the basis of these regulations, it prepares the annual calls for applications, which are submitted for approval by the Department Council. The Committee also manages the evaluation process by receiving applications, verifying eligibility, assessing submissions according to the applicable regulations and call requirements, and preparing the final ranking lists for approval by the Department Council.
Mapping of Research Areas
In collaboration with the Director's Delegate for Research, the CVR-TM monitors and maps the Department's main research areas and fields of expertise. This activity facilitates the targeted dissemination of funding opportunities, calls for proposals, and initiatives relevant to research and Third Mission/Social Impact.
Coordination with the Director's Delegates for Research and Third Mission
The Committee works in close cooperation with the Department Director, the Director's Delegate for Research, and the Director's Delegate for Third Mission, both of whom are members of the Committee. This ensures effective coordination between the Committee's activities and the Department's strategic priorities in research and Third Mission.
Communication and Dissemination of Research and Third Mission Opportunities
The CVR-TM promotes the dissemination within the Department of relevant information concerning research and Third Mission activities, including funding opportunities, calls for proposals, programmes, tools, and initiatives of strategic interest.
Additional Responsibilities
The Committee performs any other advisory, consultative, or preparatory functions assigned by the Department Director or the Department Council within its areas of competence.
