Phd in Public Health, Clinical Medicine, and Oncology

Descrizione

The course's topics fall within the ERC Life Sciences macro-sector and are united by research into the protection and promotion of human health, as well as the satisfaction of healthcare needs. Studies range from understanding the phenotypic and genotypic aspects of metabolic, chronic-degenerative, and pediatric conditions to identifying prognosis markers for internal medicine and neoplastic diseases. Research aims to explore the cellular and molecular mechanisms of available drugs and new molecules with preventive and therapeutic value, for targeted pharmacological therapy aimed at countering adverse effects, drug resistance, and non-adherence. Preclinical, translational, and clinical studies are therefore conducted with a view to implementing increasingly personalized therapies and precision medicine. The aim is also to implement methods, tools, and strategies to improve the quality of patient care in the clinical and healthcare setting.

Of great interest are rare diseases and those linked to environmental factors, which represent a transnational public health problem. Considering health emergencies, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, this program offers the opportunity for more accurate, evidence-based research, in a context where awareness of the right to health, which is dependent on individual behavior and communication with citizens, is growing.

Research is conducted in collaboration with prestigious Italian and foreign institutions, as part of projects funded by regional, national, and international organizations.

Furthermore, the doctoral didactic program includes lectures, exercises, and seminars covering technical-scientific, management, and research development aspects.
