Doctor Europaeus and Joint PhD Programmes

The Doctor Europaeus certificate is an additional qualification to the PhD title that is awarded at a national level. It is neither an academic title with supranational value nor a title conferred by international institutions. The certificate is issued by the University upon request of the PhD student, with the approval of the PhD Board. The Joint PhD Programme entails alternating periods of research of approximately equal duration at two universities that have an established agreement. Upon completion of the programme, a dual degree is awarded, which holds validity in both countries.
