Course Objectives

The doctoral programme aims to equip PhD candidates with the conceptual and methodological tools needed to interpret contemporary reality and its emerging phenomena. It promotes the application of historical and philosophical knowledge to the challenges of sustainable innovation while encouraging the development of new theoretical approaches in response to recent epistemological transformations.

Rather than celebrating the past or relying solely on technological innovation, the programme invites candidates to critically revisit the cultural paradigms that have shaped the historical and philosophical development of Western societies, particularly in light of the growing inadequacy of linear models of progress.

The programme trains researchers with a strong methodological foundation and the capacity for independent critical reflection. It also promotes an interdisciplinary perspective, fostering dialogue with other fields of research.

The programme prepares highly qualified researchers for academic careers in philosophy and history within both Italian and international contexts. At the same time, it equips graduates with transferable skills applicable in a range of professional sectors.

These include research management, cultural heritage planning and development, and advanced communication skills.
