Training profile

The Specialization School in Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine trains medical specialists with advanced expertise in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of disabilities resulting from acute and chronic disorders of the musculoskeletal system, nervous system and other body systems.

The training programme integrates theoretical, clinical, professional and research activities in neurological, orthopaedic, cardiological and respiratory rehabilitation, as well as pain medicine.

  • Functional assessment and rehabilitation management of patients.
  • Neurological, orthopaedic, cardiological and respiratory rehabilitation.
  • Prescription and monitoring of rehabilitation programmes.
  • Use of assistive devices, orthoses and technologies for functional recovery.
  • Clinical, professional and research activities in rehabilitation medicine.

Access and admission

Admission is through the national competition for Medical Area Specialization Schools reserved for medical graduates, published annually by the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
