Training profile

The Specialization School in Pathological Anatomy trains medical specialists with advanced expertise in histopathological, cytopathological, autopsy and molecular diagnostics.

The training programme integrates theoretical, clinical, professional and research activities carried out within the accredited training network.

  • Macroscopic and microscopic diagnosis of organ and systemic diseases.
  • Interpretation of histological, cytological and biopsy specimens.
  • Application of immunohistochemistry and molecular pathology techniques.
  • Autopsy practice and clinicopathological correlation.
  • Participation in diagnostic, biomedical research and innovation activities.

Access and admission

Admission is through the national competition for Medical Area Specialization Schools reserved for medical graduates, published annually by the Italian Ministry of University and Research.
