PLANT MEDICINE

The Degree Programme aims to train highly qualified professionals equipped with advanced knowledge and specialised expertise to address the complex challenges involved in the planning and management of Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategies for crops and plant products. Particular emphasis is placed on the implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the application of innovative methods and technologies designed to protect the environment and safeguard the health and safety of agricultural operators and consumers.
The Programme also focuses on ensuring the quality, wholesomeness and food safety of plant-based products, while reducing food losses and waste. By integrating economic efficiency with ethical and environmental responsibility, it promotes sustainable approaches to crop production and management.
The Programme responds to a rapidly evolving agricultural landscape shaped by major driving forces, including changes in agricultural institutions, market liberalisation, developments in European Union and international agricultural policies, increasing environmental awareness, continuous advances in innovative technologies, including biotechnology, the digitalisation of agricultural processes, and the growing challenges posed by emerging plant health threats.
