CIMS – Culture and Industries of Media and Performing Arts

The Master’s Degree Programme in CIMS – Culture and Industries of Media and Performing Arts (LM-65) aims to meet the creative and managerial needs of the audiovisual media industry, the music market and the performing arts sector, also benefiting from well-established relationships with numerous production companies and cultural institutions operating in these fields in Italy and abroad.
Drawing on the most recent developments in film, theatre and music studies, the programme offers students a specialised course of study designed to provide advanced training both from a historical and theoretical perspective and from a technical and organisational one. More specifically, the programme is designed to train four main professional profiles: producers and creators of audiovisual, theatrical and musical content; managers responsible for the distribution and marketing of audiovisual media and performing arts; creators and planners of film, theatre and music performances and events; and officers and managers working in organisations and institutions in the fields of cinema, theatre and music.
The Master’s Degree Programme in CIMS – Culture and Industries of Media and Performing Arts (LM-65) is an open-admission programme lasting two academic years. Starting with a set of common courses in historical and cultural studies, sociology and philosophy, the programme is structured into two specific study tracks. The first focuses on the study of expressive forms, industrial strategies and management practices in audiovisual and digital media. The second focuses on the creative, production and organisational dimensions of the performing arts and music.
The programme is complemented by a series of workshops devoted to the production, distribution, management and promotion of cinema and the performing arts, including practices and languages related to digital media. These activities are designed to provide students with additional professional knowledge and skills.
The Master’s Degree in CIMS – Culture and Industries of Media and Performing Arts (LM-65) provides access to further levels of education, subject to passing the relevant selection procedures and meeting the requirements established by law. These include research programmes, such as PhD programmes; professional postgraduate education, such as second-level university Master's programmes; and teacher training programmes leading to qualification for secondary school teaching.
