MODERN LANGUAGES AND LITERATURE

In line with the qualifying educational objectives of the LM37 master's class, graduates of the Master's Degree Course in "Modern Languages and Literatures" must possess an excellent mastery, both written and oral, of two foreign languages and a sure competence in the related literatures; they will have acquired skills related to the teaching of modern languages or philology related to at least one of the languages studied; the full mastery of theoretical tools and specific methodologies for the analysis and translation of literary texts will be combined with certain skills in European literature, including Italian literature. In their training course, graduates must achieve the following educational objectives: - deepen the synchronic and diachronic knowledge of the literatures and cultural areas to which the chosen languages belong, developing a path of a predominantly comparative, philological, literary and linguistic type; - connect linguistic and literary knowledge relating to the chosen languages with the relative contexts, paying particular attention to relations with the Italian context; - acquire theoretical and applicative tools for linguistic analysis and teaching of languages and literatures or for the study of texts in the perspective of Germanic and/or Romance philology and linguistics.
