I am dedicated to researching software engineering and computational intelligence. My primary focus lies in providing informed guidance to novice practitioners during their initial software modeling exercises. To address this challenge, I have developed a tool named UML Miner, implemented as a Visual Paradigm plug-in. This tool evaluates all UML diagrams created within the Visual Paradigm environment, recording modeling events as event logs in software projects.

UML Miner utilizes these event logs to perform conformance checking, offering valuable tips to modelers. These tips are derived from the UML models created by highly skilled practitioners. Specifically, UML Miner can compare different modeling process executions, identify behavioral similarities and differences, and ultimately improve learner motivation and learning outcomes.

Other significant research endeavors include:

  • Understanding how engineers approach modeling tasks, exploring their behavior and decision-making processes.
  • Gaining insights into the coding behavior of programmers to comprehend the factors influencing their coding style and practices.
  • Developing methods to predict the time required for fixing bugs reported through a Bug Tracking System, aiming to provide estimates for efficient bug resolution.
  • Conducting assessments of Object-Oriented programs to evaluate their structure, design, and overall quality.
  • Engaging in cutting-edge research on just-in-time software defects prediction, using advanced techniques to identify and address potential issues before impacting the software's functionality.

Beyond my research, I actively contribute to the academic community by serving as a valued member of program and organizing committees for conferences. I play a vital role in shaping the content and organization of these esteemed gatherings. Furthermore, I offer my expertise as a reviewer for prominent journals and magazines specializing in the fields of software engineering and software maintenance.
