European Qualification Passport for Refugees - Applications by 10 October

It is called "European Qualification Passport for Refugees" and is a document providing an assessment of higher education qualifications obtained in the country of origin and allows admission to further studies in universities in the countries of arrival, facilitating the process of integration and employment of beneficiaries of political asylum or international protection.

The University of Bari Aldo Moro, through the Centre for Permanent Learning C.A.P., will host from 18 to 22 November 2019 the evaluators of the Council of Europe that offer this new service for the recognition of qualifications obtained by refugees before their arrival in Italy, even in the absence of complete documentation.

Two are the essential requirements:

1) the status of the candidates (priority to those who are already in possession of political asylum or international protection while for those who have obtained humanitarian protection or are asylum seekers will still be possible to fill out the questionnaire and, based on the accessions received, be contacted again);

2) they must have at least one upper secondary school certificate entitling them to enter academic education in the country in which the qualification was obtained.

The applicant must complete and sign a questionnaire (in English, French or Arabic) produced by the Council of Europe, provide the identification documents proving the refugee status and provide a copy of the documents of the studies carried out in their country (colour scan of documents as final diploma, report cards, yearbook photos, university badge, etc...).

On the basis of the available documentation and a structured interview, from 18 to 22 November, the applicant will receive an assessment of higher education qualifications, previous work experience and language skills from the Council of Europe, from Cimea (Italian Information Centre on Academic Mobility and Equivalence) and the Rector of the University of Bari, Professor Stefano Bronzini.

The EQPR (European Qualifications Passport for Refugees) passport, based on the recognition of the Council of Europe's Lisbon Convention, can also be used by refugees in other European countries.

The deadline for requesting questionnaires is 10 October.
